Turn the laptop off and unplug the power adapter. Unplug any external keyboards, mice or speakers. Remove any PCMCIA cards from thepr slots, located on the side of the laptop. Disconnect any other attached devices, such as external CD-ROM units or hard drives.

Close the laptop and turn it upside-down. Slide and hold the battery-bay latch, then slide the primary battery out of the laptop. Remove the secondary battery if it is present.
